70th Anniversary events are planned and were revealed at the AGM on 4th March. The 70th season started with an Opening Ceremony and raising of the flag on April 28th. The first Annual dinner on April 29th was a great success.
The 70th Anniversary Competition and Afternoon tea will take place on June 30th. See Newsletters for details
The Presentation Evening and Bring and Eat Buffet – held on 25th September – was enjoyed by all who attended. John Hill was presented with his League Player of the Year Trophy and Keith Webster the Gardner Cup Club Championship Trophy. The evening concluded with some fun and games playing some variations of carpet bowling. Click here for a complete list of winners of all competitions.
Our first two indoor sessions were well supported Thursdays 2.00pm until 4.00pm.

Charlie Rowden Trophy Social Competition and Fish and Chip Tea on 26th August was held indoors due to bad weather
The Royal Race Night was held jointly with the Cricket section on Friday 7th September and a good night was had by all.
Off-the Green Seminar This Off-the-Green Seminar was being held again in the Bowls Pavilion on Thursday 30th August at 6.30pm. Entitled “An Introduction to Bowling in Competition” and “Improving Team Performance” – new members and those attending taster sessions came.
The Thistle Shield Social Competition and Bring and Eat Tea was on Sunday, 5th August .
Bowls Development Alliance Club Helper Award took place from 2.00-4.00 pm on Tuesday 14th August Representatives of the Bowls Development Alliance (part of Bowls England) ran a Club Helper Award for us.
The popular Silver Bowl Trophy Competition was on Monday, 16th July. The format was Australian Pairs with teams being drawn.
To coincide with a national Archery Clubs’ open day on Sunday, 17th June, we invited visitors to that event and others to come and try bowling as well at our Bowls4Fun Open Day 10.30 am – 1.30 pm

Royal Race Night, Saturday 19th May, 2018.
Due to several circumstances beyond our control, this event is postponed, possibly to Saturday 8th September.
Please watch this space but it is hoped that tickets already purchased, race sponsorship and horse sales will all be carried forward and valid for a new date.
2018 season is now up and running. Dr P W Frost, Chairman of Norton Sports Charity bowled the first bowl of the season and this was followed by a Whistle Stop Competition which was won by John White and Jennifer Parkin. (Click here for photographs)
